The Switching & Sipping Society joined with Free-mo members from across the country to build a large operating layout at the NMRA National Train show in Detroit 2007. This event was historic in the fact that two different modular clubs came together to present the hobby in a whole new way to the public.
The Sipping layout consisted of a large oval double track mainline that reliably ran fast long trains in excess of 100 cars. The third inner branch line was connected to the Free-mo modular group to allow traffic to interchange between the two layouts.

It was possible to start in the Free-mo staging yard and travel across both of the layouts terminating in the main Sipping & Switching yard. This was possible thanks to a transition module allowing the branch line to extend outside the main S&SS main loop and connecting to the Free-mo layout.
