The Northwest Trainmasters are a modular railroad club showcasing model train operaitons to the public. This collection of photos is from the 2006 Southland train show at Richards High School in Oak Lawn IL.
A "modular" railroad is comprised of small sections that connect together like building blocks. Each section is called a module because each end can be connected to other modules to form a large layout. Once all the modules are assembled together we can run trains across a large railroad. Having a modular setup gives us the flexibility of changing our setup every time we meet. This offers a fresh operating layout several times a year. Members work on the modules individually and the club owns several modules stored in a club trailer.
We have several new modules this year;
- A detailed Nicol Creek module created by Wally Lloyd
- A three section Prospect Crossing corner module created by Todd Gayhart.
