Trainfest is a annual train show held in Milwaukee Wisconsin every November.  This year we have photos from the Northwest Trainmasters modular layout along with before and after shots from the weathering clinic.  We also have photos regarding Steel Mill modeling, the new Walthers (tm) steel mill kit, and a bit of WWII modeling in N-Scale.  This is just a small fraction of exhibits on display at Trainfest.

Enjoy! - Mark N. Goedert

Mini-Kit - A Great Entry Into Prototype Modeling
Author and Model by: Rob Manley

Editor Note: The above car is a modification of an existing model by Proto 2000. Rob added a Mini-Kit which is a small collection of parts to the existing model. The additional parts give the car a more accurate look when compared to a real or 'prototype' car.

These resin conversions or "Mini-Kits" are a great entrance into the world of Proto-bashing or resin cars. It allows the modeler to experience the world of resin building with out the difficulty of building an entire car ot of a multi-media kit. The main advantage in one of these mini kits is that all the prototype research is done and the decals and necessary parts to make a distinctive car in one bag. The intro price isn't as severe either.

The Great Lakes Central (GLC), originally called the Tuscola and Saginaw Bay Railroad (TSBY), is a regional railroad in the state of Michigan.  Operations for the TSBY began in 1977 and continue today.  The photos in this section focus on the details of locomotive #391, City of Owosso, as the locomotive appeared in the summer of 2007.  Many thanks to the GLC for supporting the NMRA in providing safe access to the service facility and overall gracious hosting of our tour group.
